In Odisha, Tata Power will provide clean and sustainable energy solutions and products
Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, made this statement on Thursday while participating in the Distribution Utility Meet hosted by the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF).
According to a senior member of the power provider, Tata Power would provide clean and sustainable energy solutions and goods to the people of Odisha.
Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, made this statement on Thursday while participating in the Distribution Utility Meet hosted by the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF).
"The best example of a public-private partnership that has produced results for the state's customers is Odisha. In a short period of time, Odisha's electricity distribution is undergoing a commendable transformation "Sinha told the local reporters.
In response to a question about providing clean and sustainable energy solutions and goods to the people of Odisha, he stated that Tata Power is preparing to install EV charging stations to support clean mobility throughout the state.
According to him, TP Discoms would provide rooftop solar installation, solar pumps, and home automation solutions to increase the use of renewable energy.
According to Sinha, distribution companies in Odisha have been able to reduce AT&C losses while also improving reliability and customer connects, indicating that the state's electricity distribution is undergoing a commendable transformation.
The official stated that approximately 20 lakh non-working metres have been changed by Tata Power-led discoms, despite the fact that many of the legacy difficulties experienced by the customers have been resolved. The four discoms in Odisha, TPCODL, TPNODL, TPSODL, and TPWODL, provide electricity to more than 9.5 million users.
Apart from that, Tata Power has improved customer satisfaction across all segments by implementing the deployment of Smart Grid Technologies across the discoms.
Discoms are putting a lot of emphasis on the entire customer experience, from getting connected to metering to billing to handling complaints to making it simple to pay the bill. He claimed that discoms had incorporated technology into their offerings to better serve their customers.
"We gradually took over our distribution company in Odisha over the last two years, and it has done incredibly well. The four Tata Power distribution companies offer exceptional customer service "added he.
When asked about the steps taken by the Tata Power-run discoms, Sinha replied that in order to increase dependability, the distribution companies have implemented large-scale network augmentation and proactive maintenance of the power supply network, which has led to a 30–40% reduction in feeder tripping.
All Discoms have installed Central Power System Control Centres (CPSCCs) for real-time monitoring and dynamic power management.
Optical Character Read (OCR) technology has been used to guarantee error-free billing.
To better service rural consumers, some 2000 Fuse Call Centers (FCCs) throughout the state have been renovated. According to him, FCCs include customised mobile applications for quick information flow from customers to linemen and section In-Charge.
Members of the women Self Help Groups (SGHs) have been trained under TP Discoms' Abha Shakti women empowerment initiative to act as social change agents.
According to Sinha, the members of Abha Shakti have been given the necessary livelihood skills through digital technology and understanding of consumer-focused power discom operations like metre reading, billing, and collection (MBC) activities, allowing them to work for themselves.
