India's wearable market increased by 56% to 37.2 million devices from July to September, according to IDC

According to market research and analysis company IDC, the shipment of smart wearable devices in India increased by over 56% to 37.2 million units in the three months that concluded in September 2022.

With a 32.1% market share, Imagine Marketing, which distributes goods under the BoAT brand, was in first place.

In the first nine months of 2022, shipments of wearable devices, which include smartwatches, wristbands, and earwear, totaled 75 million units.

"Vendors kept up their aggressive shipping to increase inventory for the holiday season (August to October), which was supported by loud marketing and promotional efforts across channels. Additionally, significant discounts and promotions were made available on online sales occasions, which led to a 13.6% YoY decline in average selling price (ASP) in the third quarter of 2022 "In its study on India's wearable device market, IDC stated.

In the September 2022 quarter, the smartwatch category increased from 4.3 million to over 12 million devices, growing by 178.8% year over year (YoY).

"Better specifications and accurate monitoring will be essential as long as smartwatches remain popular among many different client segments. The affordable market will see larger screens (between 1.8 and 1.99 inches), AMOLED displays, and physical or e-Sim connectivity, while the premium market will see more products with curved, edge-to-edge screens and near field communications enabled for payment "Vikas Sharma, Senior Market Analyst at IDC India, stated that.

From 18.73 million units in the same quarter a year prior, earwear shipment increased by 33.6% to over 25 million units in the September quarter.

"67.3 percent of the total wearables category was made up of earwear. Truly wireless (TWS) maintained its lead with a 57.6% share that increased by 94.4%. In the third quarter of 2022, tethered climbed by 2.5% year over year while over-the-ear fell by more than 50% "claimed the research.

The decline in earwear shipping to 1,42,000 pieces, or around 81 percent, slowed the expansion in the wearable market.
