The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the greenfield Noida International Airport in Jewar has been awarded to Tata Projects. Tata Projects was chosen among three shortlisted teams with competence in the design, procurement, and construction of large infra projects by the Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), the special purpose vehicle (SPV) charged with developing the Noida airport.

Tata Projects won the contract for the Noida airport, beating over L&T and Shapoorji Pallonji for the company's only other airport project after Allahabad.

At Noida International Airport, Tata Projects will build the terminal, runway, airside infrastructure, roadways, utilities, landside facilities, and other auxiliary buildings.

"Tata Projects will collaborate closely with YIAPL to ensure the timely completion of India's most modern and environmentally friendly airport." We will use cutting-edge technology in its construction while adhering to the highest quality, safety, and sustainability standards," said Vinayak Pai, Tata Projects Ltd's CEO and MD Designate.

Short and efficient passenger flows, digital services, and little environmental effect will all be features of the passenger terminal. Noida airport will be India's first digital airport, allowing for contactless transit and customised services for families, seniors, and business travellers.

The architecture of Noida Airport is centred on sustainability, and it will be the country's first net-zero emissions airport. Green infrastructure standards such as IGBC certified buildings, rainwater harvesting, zero liquid discharge sewage treatment plant, and waste management facility will all be considered when designing and developing the airport.

"With the award of this EPC contract, our project moves into the next phase, which will see a significant rise in the pace of building on site." We're working with Tata Projects to build a passenger terminal, runway, and other airport infrastructure with a capacity of 12 million passengers per year by 2024," said Christoph Schnellmann, Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd's Chief Executive Officer.
