Tuesday saw the announcement by ACME Group of a Rs 52,474 crore green hydrogen and green ammonia project in Tamil Nadu. According to a corporate statement, the initial agreement with the state government was inked during the Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave in front of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M K Stalin.

The statement claims that the project will cost Rs 52,474 crore to complete. "This will likely be the biggest facility ever built, not only in India, but worldwide. According to Manoj K. Upadhyay, founder and chairman of the ACME Group, "this project will produce green hydrogen and ammonia, which will help to decarbonize sectors such as fertilisers, power, refining, and steel, among others.

Upadhyay continued, "The project needs four components: solar radiation, port accessibility, land availability, and skilled resources. All of these are available in Tamil Nadu.

The project will include a 5,000 mw solar PV plant, a 1.5 GW electrolyzer, and a 1.1 million tonnes ammonia synthesis loop, according to Sandeep Kashyap, COO of the ACME Group.
