Real estate brokers in India campaign for a uniform licence

They assert that one country, one licence will aid in the uniformity of all RERAs as well as the growth and expansion of the real estate industry in India.

Real estate brokers in India campaign for a uniform licence

More than 50,000 real estate brokers are represented by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) India, which has pleaded with the federal government to grant brokers a single licence that would allow them to conduct business anywhere in the nation, regardless of their home state.

According to Chetan Chopra, Director of the North Zone, "One country, one licence is what we seek. For instance, currently, if I want to conduct business in Maharashtra from Punjab, I must obtain an RERA number, which increases the cost of the enterprise."

One nation, one licence, according to Chopra, will not only support the development and growth of India's real estate industry but will also promote consistency among all RERAs in the nation.

NAR reported that letters addressing "One Nation, One Licence" for real estate brokers have been sent to all states by the Central Advisory Council, which was established following the RERA Act of 2016 and is chaired by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

NAR noted that the states had not yet put the plan into effect.
