On Wednesday, Kia India announced that its mid-sized SUV Seltos will come equipped with six airbags as standard. In keeping with the increased emphasis on safety, it was decided to include six airbags on every model grade.

Six airbags are already available as standard equipment in the Carens model from the South Korean carmaker. According to Kia India Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing Hardeep Singh Brar, "it is our constant effort to upgrade our products at regular intervals, based on our market research and awareness of the ever-evolving wants of customers."

He continued, "Selteos is a highly important product, and India is a major market for Kia globally." Nearly 60% of the company's overall national sales are attributable to Seltos.

A vehicle's airbag is an occupant-restraint mechanism that intervenes between the driver and the dashboard during an accident to shield the driver from severe injury.
