Meesho, an e-commerce company sponsored by Softbank, revealed on Tuesday that it has digitised over 30,000 small enterprises from West Bengal. Additionally, the business announced in a statement that it has enlisted former national team captain and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly for a marketing campaign during the impending holiday season.
In the past year, Meesho has seen a marked growth in the number of MSMEs from West Bengal joining the platform. The statement listed the top product categories favoured by vendors in the area as being clothes, personal care & wellness, consumer electronics, and home decor. In an effort to reach the 377 million potential regional users, the e-commerce company has added Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, and Odia to its site.
According to a release, Sourav Ganguly, a well-known Indian cricket administrator, commentator, and former team captain, has joined the platform for its marketing campaign centred on the impending holiday season. According to the platform, over 100 million users made transactions over the course of the previous year, with consumers from Tier 2+ markets accounting for 80% of all transactions and being the main driver of this development.
The platform just recorded more than 102 million downloads in the fourth quarter of FY'22, representing a 5 times year-over-year increase, according to the business.
