On Thursday, the government announced plans to increase the amount of coal stored at thermal power plants to 45 million tonnes by the end of March.
According to the coal ministry, there will be more fossil fuel at the pithead.
According to a statement from the coal ministry, 30 million tonnes of stock would be added to domestic coal-based units by the end of November 2022.
It intends to keep increasing the stock until the Thermal Power Plants' (TPP) coal reserves reach 45 million tonnes by the end of March 31, 2023.
As of October, the nation's total coal production was 448 million tonnes (MT), which is 18% more than it was during the same period the prior fiscal year.
According to the ministry, "the growth of coal production from Coal India Ltd (CIL) is also more than 17%."
During the months of April through October of the current fiscal, the average daily availability of coal rakes increased by 9%, assisting in the transportation of more dry fuel and the accumulating of stocks at power plants.
The power ministry is also increasing coal transportation by rail and truck.
"To all power generating businesses, CIL has issued an RCR mode lifting quota for the upcoming eight months. This will facilitate advanced transportation logistics planning for power generation firms, "It was ad.
In an effort to promote the transportation of dry fuel by sea route, the Ministries of Power, Railways, and Coal are collaborating with the Ministries of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways.
As of now, coal is transported via the rail-sea-rail (RSR) route from CIL arm Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) to Paradip and then to power plants on the Eastern Coast.
The government promotes the movement of dry fuel from coal mines in the east of the nation to power facilities in the north or on the western coast.
As a result, the transportation of coal to Paradip is being expanded. By the beginning of the next year, it is intended to begin moving coal for western coast units through RSR.
The government is considering encouraging the use of all three potential ways of coal transportation.
The Center keeps a close eye on matters relating to the production, delivery, and quality of domestic coal.
More than 80% of the domestic coal production is attributed to Coal India.
Due to a coal shortage, several states in the nation experienced power outages during the summer.
