Ahead of the holiday season, Amazon reduces selling fees for new suppliers by 50%

Ahead of the holiday season sale, e-commerce business Amazon India has reduced selling fees for new vendors on its platform by 50%, the company announced on Monday.

Every vendor who wants to sell their goods on Amazon must pay a charge, which is computed as a percentage of the total sales price that the customer pays.

The company said that all new sellers who register on Amazon.in between August 28 and October 26 and launch within 90 days of the date of registration will be eligible to avail of a 50% waiver on selling fees across all categories. This is to help new sellers get started in e-commerce during the holiday season.

Thousands of vendors across India are anticipating possible benefits from this holiday season, according to a separate announcement from Amazon India.

All sizes of companies are included in this, including startups and digital entrepreneurs who sell their products on Amazon as well as neighbourhood shops, traditional weavers and craftsmen, female entrepreneurs, and traditional weavers and artisans.

The government has spared e-commerce suppliers with less than Rs 40 lakh in annual revenue from having to register for GST, which is anticipated to increase online product sales.

Vivek Somareddy, director of fulfilment channels for Amazon India, said in a statement, "We have over a million sellers from India who will have the opportunity to exhibit their items to buyers across the country over the festive season.

In addition to 28,000 I Have Space partners and thousands of Seller Flex partners, Amazon India has over 60 fulfilment centres, sortation centres spread across 19 states, and over 1,850 stations owned and operated by Amazon and partners.
