DTC places an order with Tata Motors for 1,500 electric buses
According to the contract, the car giant will provide, operate, and maintain air-conditioned, low-floor, completely constructed 12-meter electric buses for 12 years, it said in a statement.
As part of a tender by Convergence Energy Services Ltd., Tata Motors said on Friday that it had won an order for 1,500 electric buses from Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
According to the contract, the car giant will provide, operate, and maintain air-conditioned, low-floor, completely constructed 12-meter electric buses for 12 years, it said in a statement.
"The delivery of these buses will strengthen our relationship with DTC even more and contribute to Delhi's environmentally friendly mass transit system. We are dedicated to modernising public transportation in India and keeping sustainability at the forefront of the design of cutting-edge vehicles, said Rohit Srivastava, vice president of product line buses at Tata Motors.
The Mumbai-based business has already sent more than 650 electric buses to various Indian cities, totaling more than 39 million kilometres.
Neeraj Semwal, the MD of Delhi Transport Corporation, claimed that the introduction of environmentally friendly buses will significantly reduce air pollution and benefit millions of people.
Mahua Acharya, MD and CEO of Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL), praised the Delhi Government for its outstanding leadership in the switch to electric buses.
