Tata Motors has begun delivering the Ace compact truck
Initially, the company would commercially launch the electric small truck in ten cities, beginning with Delhi, Pune, and Mumbai, and then moving on to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
Tata Motors began customer deliveries of the electric version of its compact truck 'Ace' on Monday, with prices beginning at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Tata Motors Executive Director Girish Wagh told reporters here that the business will initially commercially offer the electric micro truck in ten cities, beginning with Delhi, Pune, and Mumbai, followed by Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
The Ace EV was delivered to e-commerce, FMCG, and courier companies, as well as their logistics service providers, including Amazon, Delhivery, DHL (Express & Supply Chain), FedEx, Flipkart, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health, MoEVing, Safexpress, and Trent Ltd. The Ace EV was debuted by the domestic automaker in May of last year, with orders for 39,000 units placed with prominent e-commerce giants like as Amazon, BigBasket, City Link, DOT, Flipkart, LetsTransport, MoEVing, and Yelo EV.
When asked about the current order size, he stated that it has expanded without providing any details, with strong interest coming from FMCG companies, parcel and courier organisations. Wagh stated that Tata Motors is attempting to fulfil orders as soon as possible, but that due to supply chain issues, particularly the recent Covid-19 outbreak in some countries, production has been hampered slightly, but that the company has sufficient capacity at its Pant Nagar manufacturing plant.
He stated that Tata Motors has spent time fine-tuning the product and proving its performance across applications, as well as complying with the new battery requirement. "The debut of the Ace EVs on Indian roads is a significant step forward in the journey toward zero-emission cargo mobility," added Wagh. "The holistic solution co-created with our partners successfully caters to a variety of intra-city distribution needs and gives a superior value proposition to all stakeholders," he continued. Tata Motors claims that the Ace EV is the first product to use its 'EVOGEN' powertrain, which has a certified range of 154 kilometres on a single charge.
It is propelled by a 27kW (36hp) motor with a max torque of 130Nm.
It includes a regular five-year complimentary annual maintenance contract. Tata Motors released its micro truck Ace with a conventional engine in 2005, aiming for the last mile delivery niche, and has already sold over 20 lakh units.
