Investing Rs 900 crore, the Oriental Yeast Company of Japan establishes a factory in Maharashtra
According to a statement from Oriental Yeast India (OYI), the cutting-edge plant has established a capacity of 33,000 million tonnes of fresh yeast in Phase I of its operations and accommodates to the expansion of the baking industry in India.
The Oriental Yeast Company of Japan has spent Rs 900 crore through a company in India to build a yeast production facility in Khandala MIDC, Satara, Maharashtra.
According to a statement from Oriental Yeast India (OYI), the cutting-edge plant has established a capacity of 33,000 million tonnes of fresh yeast in Phase I of its operations and accommodates to the expansion of the baking industry in India.
According to the statement, this facility will provide more than 1,000 job opportunities, including 200 direct positions and 800 indirect jobs at local suppliers who work across the value chain.
A key operator in the supply of yeast products to bakeries, distilleries, and other food industries in India and foreign markets is OYI, a subsidiary of OYC Japan.
Masashi Nakagawa, President of OYC Japan and Chairman of Oriental Yeast India, stated: "India is the cornerstone of our global strategy and, from the standpoint of OYC, one of the main priority markets. This new plant serves as a symbol of our dedication to India and a significant turning point in our global expansion."
The facility will provide cutting-edge yeast goods and services to meet the rising demand of big food chains, neighbourhood bakeries, and other related businesses.
Additionally, he continued, this plant will lessen India's reliance on imported yeast.
Yeast and related bakery ingredients are produced by OYI and sold under the Kobo brand.
Since its establishment as Japan's first manufacturer of bakers' yeast in 1929, OYC has grown to offer a wide range of food items, bread ingredients, and other biotechnology-related goods. The largest producer of yeast in Japan is now OYC.
