On Tuesday, the pharmaceutical company Unichem Laboratories said that the US health agency has given the go-ahead for it to market the anticonvulsant medication carbamazepine tablets in the US. According to a statement from Unichem Laboratories, the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has given the firm the go-ahead to market its medication with a 200 mg dosage.

The Tegretol pills produced by the Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company are a generic version of those manufactured by Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. Tegretol tablets are indicated for use as an anticonvulsant and in the management of trigeminal neuralgia pain. According to Unichem, the product would be made at the company's Goa plant.

On the BSE, firm shares were up 4.33 percent, selling for Rs 297.25 each.
