Blue Dart, a logistics services company, announced on Thursday that it has signed the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change's 'Climate Neutral Now' (CNN) pledge (UNFCCC).
The Carbon Neutral Now Initiative encourages and supports interested parties to take immediate action in order to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, as outlined in the Paris Agreement.
Blue Dart, which is part of the Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL) Group, said in a statement that the programme is a tool to promote voluntary action on climate change. According to the statement, the pledge "highlights the organization's commitment to ambitious carbon emission reduction targets."
"As part of the Deutsche Post DHL Group, we are happy to commit our support for the UNFCCC, which allows us to quantify the impact of our actions, guided by the sustainability roadmap to which we are linked," stated Balfour Manuel, Managing Director of Blue Dart.
According to the corporation, the Group has adopted a package of actions worth up to 7 billion euros to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement, with the primary goal of expanding the use of sustainable technology and fuels in its fleets and buildings.
It claimed that its long-term goal is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to zero by 2050. "We devised a sustainability plan as a group that supports the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. We're always on the lookout for new green logistics solutions that can help us reduce our carbon footprint "DPDHL Group's EVP Corporate Development, Pablo Ciano, stated.
