In Tamil Nadu, Tata Technologies will assist in the upgrade of 71 ITIs
The worldwide engineering and product development digital services corporation said in a statement that it has signed a five-year Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Tamil Nadu government for this purpose.
Tata Technologies announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with the Tamil Nadu government to turn 71 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state into contemporary technology centres and training facilities, resulting in a Rs 2,204 crore investment.

"In addition to transforming the ITIs' technology, Tata Technologies will provide industrial support for trainers' training and assuring the new set-maintenance," up's it stated.
Following the upgrade, these technology centres will not only meet students' advanced skill needs, but will also serve as technology and industrial hubs for MSMEs, according to the company. The collaboration with the Tamil Nadu government is an extension of the company's ongoing efforts to implement projects with high social impact that complement the government's nation-building efforts, the company said.
"This project gives us a wonderful opportunity to use our manufacturing domain knowledge to upskill and empower the young of Tamil Nadu," said Subramanian Ramadorai, chairman of Tata Technologies.
With a digital-first strategy, the industrial ecosystem and its requirements have altered dramatically in recent years. Industries and manufacturers need a qualified staff with relevant expertise and experience to stay up with these growing technology trends and migrate to 'Industry 4.0,' he noted.
According to Tata Technologies Managing Director and CEO Warren Harris, the company will use its product engineering expertise and manufacturing domain knowledge to develop future-ready courseware and training platform that allows students to develop their skillsets in line with the requirements of Industry 4.0 technologies and be a part of the rapidly transforming ecosystem.
"The collaboration with Tata Technologies is an endeavour to bridge the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower requirements of the manufacturing industry," the business said, quoting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
"The enhanced technology centres will assist us in upskilling and reskilling Tamil Nadu's young to meet the state's increasing industrial needs, attracting more investments, providing more job opportunities, and assisting us in becoming a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030."
Tata Technologies said it is working with the Tamil Nadu government and 20 global industry partners to implement the project, which includes upgrading the overall facilities of the 71 technology centres, developing an Industry 4.0 curriculum, conducting training programmes, and providing equipment and software support at the new facilities.
The goal is to bridge the gap between academia and industry by establishing modern technology centres that will facilitate innovation and skill development of students and industry professionals who will eventually be absorbed as skilled resources in the manufacturing industry, as well as encourage entrepreneurship, according to the statement.
The courses at the new centres will update the basic workforce's abilities to meet future industry requirements and provide participants with a platform to find work in the industries.
This will also increase the availability of sophisticated skills needed for smart manufacturing across the state, boosting skill-led manufacturing and encouraging investments to Tamil Nadu, according to the corporation.
