According to a Financial Express story, Lava today unveiled the Lava Blaze 5G, a budget 5G smartphone for the Indian market.

At the ongoing India Mobile Congress 2022, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics & IT, introduced the Lava Blaze 5G.

The Blaze 5G will be the first 5G smartphone under $10,000 in India.

This year, Lava Blaze 5G pre-orders will begin around Diwali. Closer to introduction, the precise price should be made public, claims the article.

Sunil Raina, president and chief executive officer of Lava International Limited, said that the launch of this smartphone "makes the power of 5G technology accessible to all" and that it "aligns with the larger vision of providing the next generation 5G technology to Indians at an affordable price point."

On October 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced 5G data services to the nation, ushering in a time when mobile devices can access extremely fast internet.

Specifications for the Lava Blaze 5G

A 6.5-inch 720p IPS display with a quick 90Hz refresh rate and Widevine L1 support will be included with the smartphone. It will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.

It will include a 50MP main sensor controlling a triple back camera arrangement. It will have an 8MP selfie camera up front.

The device has a 5,000mAh battery and Android 12 OS, among other features. For biometric security, the phone will have a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a glass back.

In India, the smartphone penetration rate was expected to be 54 percent in 2020 and to be 96 percent in 2040, more than doubling from the financial year 2016 even though only about 23 percent of the population used smartphones.

Around 149.7 million smartphones were shipped throughout India in 2020.

A Deloitte analysis projects that by 2026, there will be 1 billion smartphone users in India, with rural areas driving the market for internet-capable phones. In India, there are 1.2 billion mobile customers, 750 million of whom use smartphones.
