More paid features are being planned for Facebook and Instagram

According to an internal email released last week, eta Platforms Inc. is establishing a new product group to focus on "potential paid products" for its Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp platforms, The Verge reported on Tuesday.

According to John Hegeman, Meta's head of ads and business products, the company still has no intentions to charge customers to turn off ads and is committed to expanding the ads business.

A request for comment from Reuters was not immediately answered by the corporation.

The report stated that Hegeman declined to provide into further detail regarding the anticipated premium features.

By making the change, Meta would follow in the footsteps of businesses like Snap Inc. and Twitter Inc., which have introduced paid tiers to unlock extra functionality.

Fears of a recession and intense competition caused ad sales to decline last month, causing Meta to experience its first-ever quarterly revenue decline.

According to the news source, Pratiti Raychoudhury, who was once Meta's chief of research, will serve as the group's leader and call it New Monetization Experiences.
