On Friday, Dr Reddy's Laboratories announced the availability of a generic over-the-counter drug to treat nasal and sinus congestion brought on by colds or allergies.

Fexofenadine HCl 180 mg and pseudoephedrine HCl 240 mg extended release tablets have been released in the US market, according to the Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company.

The pharmaceutical company claimed that it has launched the medication, which is an alternative to Allegra-D 24 HR from Aventisub LLC, following approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).

CEO of Dr Reddy's Laboratories North America Generics Marc Kikuchi stated that the introduction of the company's Fexofenadine HCl 180 mg and Pseudoephedrine HCl 240 mg Extended Release Tablets, USP, is a significant addition to our upper respiratory portfolio of OTC medications.

This first-to-market launch is evidence of the company's strong skills and ongoing work to provide patients and consumers with high-quality, reasonably priced store-brand alternatives, he stated.

According to the manufacturer, there will be three different pack sizes for the medication: five, ten, and fifteen. An over-the-counter oral antihistamine and nasal decongestant from Dr. Reddy's is used to temporarily relieve nasal and sinus congestion brought on by colds or allergies.

It offers momentary relief from allergy-related sneezing, runny nose, itchy, watery eyes, and scratchy throat. Allegra-D 24 HR had retail sales of almost $45 million in the US, according to IRI.
